Core Concept
Hue Merge Challenge presents a deceptively simple objective: transform a scattered collection of colored cells into one uniform hue. The game board starts with a cluster of cells in the upper-left corner. Your primary tool is a palette of colors located at the bottom of the screen. Selecting a new color from this palette instantly changes the entire connected group of cells that share the same color as your starting cluster. This action expands the group, absorbing adjacent cells of the same new color. The challenge lies in choosing the right sequence of colors to gradually cover the entire board.
Move Economy
Each color selection consumes one move, and every level imposes a strict limit on the total moves allowed. This constraint forces you to think several steps ahead. You cannot simply pick colors at random; you must evaluate which hue will absorb the largest area or set up a future chain reaction. The move counter adds a layer of resource management, turning what might seem like a casual activity into a genuine test of planning.
Progressive Difficulty
Early levels introduce the basic mechanics with small grids and generous move allowances. As you advance, the board size increases, and the number of distinct colors grows. Later stages may present irregular cell arrangements or color distributions that require more creative solutions. The difficulty curve is smooth, giving you time to develop strategies before facing truly demanding puzzles.
Visual and Technical Design
The game uses a clean, minimalist interface that keeps the focus on the puzzle itself. Each color is distinct and easy to differentiate. A full-screen mode is available for a more immersive experience. The game runs entirely in a web browser, requiring no downloads or installations. It also works on mobile devices, allowing you to play on a phone or tablet with touch controls.
